Ramona Allen
An active piano teacher, performer, accompanist, and coach, Ramona Sohn Allen, earned her Doctorate in Piano Performance from Claremont Graduate University, after receiving her Masters at the University of Redlands and her Bachelors at Andrews University, studying respectively with Hao Huang, Louanne Long, and Eileen Hutchins. Ramona has served on the piano faculties of the University of Redlands, Riverside Community College, Scripps College, Claremont Colleges, Edgewood College, and St. Martins University. Dr. Allen regularly performs in duo and chamber recitals and has appeared with symphonies in California, Michigan, and Washington as a pianist as well as a clarinetist. She has been published in the American Music Teacher magazine and adjudicates at festivals and competitions. A proponent of Baroque composers, she enjoys playing on her double manual French harpsichord, and she often plays the piano and organ at her church. Her private students have won many awards and scholarships throughout the region and state, as well as through the American College of Musicians. They have performed solo and duo recitals, charity and benefit concerts, competitions and community events, and have been featured with the Olympia Chamber Orchestra, Olympia Symphony, Chopin Competition, Chopin NW, Outstanding Artist Piano Competition and more. She has successfully prepared students for the AP Music Theory exams with high marks. Ramona and her husband reside in beautiful Olympia, WA with their four children. They enjoy the great outdoors, skiing, travel, and spending time with family.
