Invitation from Sound Studios Olympia, a local music group, headed by director Shawn Meloy:
This festival concert is an open invitational to students, teachers, and musicians around the area who would be interested in playing a single movement from one of Beethoven's sonatas. This can for piano, of course, but he also wrote sonatas for other instruments including the flute and violin. Only a single movement is performed by each musician.
The sonata movement must be original and not a transcription of a sonata movement for a different instrument. It must be "as written" as well, and not a simplified version. That being said, the sonatinas which are attributed to Beethoven are also acceptable.
This concert is scheduled for December 19th at 4pm, which is a Sunday. This is open to all local musicians, teachers, and students. It is more like a concert than a recital and we are asking for well prepared performances which are memorized, even from the younger students who may be playing a sonatina movement.
There is a $10 registration fee for all non-Sound Studios Olympia students.
